We Love (Going To) Carnivals

We love carnivals. They always full of happy things

We love carnivals. They always full of happy things and bring smiles to our faces

We love carnivals. Although they were usually held in an outdoor space with no air conditioner, but we still like going to the carnival with all the food, the shows, the games, the free gifts, photo booths, and even the balloons. I especially love the ambiance in the carnivals where everyone seemed to be happy, relaxed, and full of laughter even though the weather was very hot. From church carnival, office, mall, to carnival coordinated by the community center, all we knew that we always had so much fun. Mostly they were free or even if we had to pay , they usually were very cheap and we got a lot more than what we had paid.

I’ve posted in this blog some of the carnivals that we’d attended, and when I sorted all the recent pictures that we’d been taking, I realized that there were still many pictures from the recent carnivals that we’ve attended that haven’t been posted in here. And here are the reasons why we love carnivals, from Children’s Day Carnival, Sports Day Carnival, to carnivals coordinated by the malls, office, and our community center.

  1. Balloon

This big boy still loves balloons and especially balloon sculptures. No wonder because balloons make everyone happy, am I rite?

Penguin balloon sculpture

Penguin balloon sculpture. The guy who made this balloon did it so fast and it amazed me…………

Minion balloon sculpture

Minion balloon sculpture. I liked the young man who made this balloon, he engaged in a nice conversation with every child that was standing in front of him while his hands were busy making balloons.

Even this ordinary balloons can make kids happy, and we brought home lots of balloons that day

       2. Gifts

Free gifts are always the best things to cheer up the children’s mood, and even adults, even though they are only small things that will be forgotten once they come home…………I have headache too of where I should keep those small gifts at home.

Free gift

Books, pencils, pens, candies, tissues, bread, drinks, popcorn, and even to bubble gun, flashlight and slippers…………..those were the free things we got from carnivals

3. Food

Who doesn’t like popcorn and candy floss??? We could find them in every carnival………….and sometimes plus ice cream too if we were lucky, and best of all………….they were free.

Popcorn and cold drinks are our favorites

Where else can you find hot dogs as appetizers?

Where else can you find hot dogs as appetizers unless in this office carnival?

Now, these are real food and drinks..........

Now, these are real food and drinks……….

Nom..........nom............

Nom……….nom…………

4. Games

Most of all, carnivals must have games………..many games that can make everyone happy and tired at the same time. Well, adults may get tired, but I don’t think the kids will ever get tired, and this is the example:

Mini games (more than 5) in round one

Bouncy castle in round two

Kids laser tag which was full of running, jumping, screaming, laughing that made all the children sweat

The real laser tag (with adults..........and he was the only child from the whole team) in round four.

The real laser tag (with adults……….and he was the only child from the whole team) in round four. Everybody said it was sooooo………tiring, and even the boy said it was very tiring. On the plus point, he played this laser tag for free so I didn’t have to pay to satisfy his curiosity about playing laser tag.

Even though he said he was tired, he still continued playing water soccer...................heavy sigh...........

Finally...............sit down and relax

Finally……………sit down and relax

He got his energy back after dinner and tried archery

And this..............this balloon was too big for him so he couldn't play soccer inside it, so he just rolled over with this big balloon.

And this…………..this balloon was too big for him so he couldn’t play soccer inside it, so he just rolled over with this big balloon

but that’s not all………….because we sometimes found the big version of games that we already had at home such as these:

Giant Jenga

Giant Jenga……………it was like the one that we saw on Ellen Show…………..

A simple version of monopoly game but in big size

A simple version of monopoly game but in big size and must be played by 5 to 6 kids at the same time

and not to forget: all the classical games that we can find in almost every carnival:

All the fun games were here..........

All the fun games were here……….that day was so hot and hazy but this place was still full of people………….

By the way, as far as I could remember, all those outdoor or indoor events that we’ve attended (and even the ones that I’ve posted before), were always accompanied by super hot weather…………..but still very crowded. I wonder why the rain never came in each carnival that we’ve attended?

Besides the games and the food and all the small gifts, we were still more than happy to bring home another souvenir from the carnival:

5. Photo booth

Photo booth

We are big fans of photo booths, and we are always happy to bring our photos as souvenirs……………..

They even mailed the photo to our house…………how nice…….

6. Shows

The boy also liked the carnival’s shows, from magic show, puppet show, dancing, singing, etc………..those all were very fun to watch. They were so entertaining and funny not for the kids, but also for adults. The boy also always tried to sit at the front whenever a show was about to start. He also liked to participate in quizzes and tried to win prizes.  So far, we got vouchers, Jenga Game, and other things from participating in quizzes. Too bad we have never win in any lucky draws.

Balloon magic show.............all I could imagine was how hot he must be in that suit and inside the balloon

A policeman showed how to do CPR in Children's Day Carnival. Well, this was not a show, but it was good for the children's knowledge

That was our carnivals story. Although we missed our church carnival at the end of the year because we went for holidays, but overall we still had so much fun attending many carnivals all this time. Hopefully there are more events to come in 2016 and we certainly cannot wait for them.

I'll see you in 2016 Carnivals!

Hi there. I'm from Indonesia but now live quite far away from my home country. I love cooking for my family. I learned how to cook for the first time from my mom and I believe that mom's cooking is always the best, and I do hope that my son will feel the same too even though he grows up so fast. I love Indonesian food as I grew up with it, and I promise to myself that my son, although he doesn't live in Indonesia right now, will always like and enjoy authentic Indonesian food. I make this blog so that my family will always remember our togetherness and happy time that we had, are having, and will have when we eat together and have good memories about a mother's love through her dishes. Hopefully these recipes will help other people to make healthy home cooked dishes for their families.
