Little Day Out With Mom: Underwater World Sentosa and Palawan Beach

This was our second visit to Underwater World Sentosa, the first one was more than 4 years ago with his cousin from Phillipines………………when I looked at their photos together, it still amazed me how both of the kids had grown up so much. When I met my niece again this year (after 4 years) in my uncle’s house, she had changed a lot and thankfully both of the children could still play together and had fun together.

For my cousin and I, we were both not very satisfy with the visit to Under Water World Sentosa, and so were the kids. The place was small and dark, there were not much to see, and even the Dolphin Lagoon was closed on that day. We only spent very little time inside and nobody refused to go home (not even the kids, so they must had been so bored inside, they just liked to run around inside and didn’t really pay attention on the fish).

After SEA Aquarium opened its door around 2 years ago, there was no way that we would be getting back to Underwater World because we had better option. So why we got back to visit Underwater World?

During the June school holiday when the boy and I got stuck at home and felt so bored, I found out that Underwater World had promotion for local residents, the ticket price was reduced to $20 per person and lunch buffet was already included in the ticket price. Wow, what a great deal! So that was how the two of us packed our things and headed out to Sentosa. It was so hot during the holiday so we tried to find indoor activities with air con than going outdoor.

After 4 years, we finally took this bus again from Beach Station to Underwater World

Unless we asked, the ticketing officer didn’t tell us about the current promotion. I think she should have been mentioned it and explained to us. So how was this place after 4 years? Well, it didn’t change much and sad to say………..it still didn’t impress us…………………If we have to come again by paying the normal ticket price (which is almost $30 for adult), I would say it’s not worth the money. We better go to SEA Aquarium directly.

Nonetheless, we still had so much fun together on this trip and I really loved going out with him. Since there were still 3 weeks of school holiday after we came back from Sydney, both of us went out together many times and we really enjoyed every single time of it.

They boy showed interest on the dolphin show, and although he had seen a dolphin show before, but this one was new because the one who was going to perform was the pink dolphins. It was a combination show between pink dolphins and seals, and it actually was just an average performance. We’d seen better ones before, but he was still happy to see the pink dolphins.

Another fun part was to see the fish feeding session. Divers would go down to the pool to feed those big fish (if I were them, I would be afraid that the fish would eat me if they were still hungry, hahaha………….). They must have good skills and the fish probably already recognized them too so they were comfortable being in the middle of humans.

Would you go inside the aquarium? Well, I wouldn't...........

Thankfully, lunch was already included, so it was easy and saved time. There were not many choices of food and the taste was not great either, but at least we were full and the ice cream was good.

Let's eat.........

After lunch, we re-entered again to have another quick look before we headed to the beach. Since it was very hot outside, we preferred to wait inside Underwater World with air con than went to the beach under the hot sun.

When the boy asked me “Are you afraid to see those big crabs?” and I said “No, they make me want to cook them and made them into Kepiting Saos Padang (Indonesian crab dish) and eat them all………….” and he was speechless…………maybe that was because he never knows how great the dish is……………….

The, we spent another 2 hours at our favorite beach………Palawan Beach………..and this time, luckily the water play was not under maintenance. It was weekday, so the beach was not too crowded.

Hi there. I'm from Indonesia but now live quite far away from my home country. I love cooking for my family. I learned how to cook for the first time from my mom and I believe that mom's cooking is always the best, and I do hope that my son will feel the same too even though he grows up so fast. I love Indonesian food as I grew up with it, and I promise to myself that my son, although he doesn't live in Indonesia right now, will always like and enjoy authentic Indonesian food. I make this blog so that my family will always remember our togetherness and happy time that we had, are having, and will have when we eat together and have good memories about a mother's love through her dishes. Hopefully these recipes will help other people to make healthy home cooked dishes for their families.
