We visited my mother and sister in law in Surabaya last December, and this was going to be the boy’s first time meeting his two cousins. We we were so excited especially the boy who always loves holiday, hotel stay, and lots of chances to watch TV on the bed, swimming whenever he wants to, and plays all day long.
We chose to stay in Sheraton Hotel (I picked this hotel) for one reason only, and that was because this hotel was connected to Tunjungan Mall. With Surabaya traffic jam, plus we really wanted to relax and enjoy the holiday without going from one place to another, this place was the best option. If we needed something, were hungry, wanted to play, were bored in the hotel bedroom, just walked less than 5 minutes to the mall, and we need not worry when it was raining almost all the time, just needed to walk under the shelter to the mall.
We also booked this hotel almost 10 years ago after our wedding in Jakarta and before the second wedding celebration in Surabaya. As far as I remember, we got a smaller room back then. This time, the room was bigger with bigger TV and big bathroom with a tub.
We also received one plate of welcome fruit upon arrival. Since it was still 2 days after Christmas, we could see beautiful Christmas decoration around the hotel and of course we took many pictures with the Christmas tree, gingerbread house, snowman, and the fire place.
And of course, we spent hours at the swimming pool. Even though the pool was not too big and shallow, the children still had lots of fun and we had to force them to get out of the pool because it was cloudy, the water was freezing cold, and we hadn’t even had our lunch and it was already almost 3 pm!
The hotel even had a kids club near the restaurant. It was very small, with only very few toys to play with, the air con wasn’t cool enough, but these two children still played together happily.
What about breakfast?
And of course, we visited Tunjungan Plaza several times to buy water, snack, lunch, dinner, and played in FunWorld. Tunjungan Plaza is a huge mall, but we only came as far as the supermarket and nearest restaurants…………….
And guess who I met in Tunjungan Plaza:
And that was the end of our visit in East Java. It was only 3 days and 2 nights, so we didn’t have time to visit many places, but since our main purpose was for our son to meet and play with his two cousins (they were surprisingly very nice towards each other and were willing to take turn in playing with toys or gadgets………), we were not so disappointed. The boy had so much fun and of course he wants to play with them again
And oh my, how we love the new Terminal 2 Juanda Airport Surabaya, big and spacious and bright and clean, all the process was very efficient……..so unlike Jakarta International Airport.
