A Picnic In Singapore Botanic Garden

Yes, we finally went for a family picnic to Singapore Botanic Garden. Luckily, it was a nice day and the rain didn’t show any sign to come at all. Going out in a nice weather is like a jackpot these days, since the rain can come at anytime. Sometimes the sun will shine and it looks like going to be a hot day (so I hang my wet laundry outside), and then suddenly the rain comes (and I had to bring my laundry inside in fast movement, sometimes the lil one helps me happily when he’s at home————-he thinks it is fun and he can do it while laughing very hard, he findsย it’s funny to see mommy running around in panic mode to keep the clothes away from the naughty rain ), then it’s hot again (and I stubbornly take out my laundry again), and it finally raining cats and dogs (and again……I frantically grab my laundry so all the clothes won’t get wet again). The weather is really teasing me nowadays.

So, we were very happy to finally have a nice day that Saturday afternoon. We spent 4 hours in the park, and in the middle of our picnic our friends came and we continued to have dinner together somewhere around Orchard Area. The lil one slept peacefully in the car when we were on the way home, and woke up the next morning. He was very tired after playing the whole day, especially when his friend came…………….they laughed, scream, chased each other even when we were having dinner at the food court. I had to keep my eyes glued to them because they were easily disappeared in the middle of the crowd (it was Saturday night so it seemed like everybody in town was outside the house).

We had so much fun doing this and it was absolutely a great time to spend together. I brought grass jelly drink, potato chips (I got 3 packs of chips from an event in Downtown East for free —— believe me, chips are not something that I will voluntarily buy for us), drinking water (actually it is also available from the drinking fountain near the toilet), and …………………pizza (of course there was our favorite pepperoni pizza). I was too lazy to cook that day, so I just ordered the pizza online………..very easy, rite???

This place can be easily reached with MRT (within walking distance from the MRT Station), and if you don’t bring your own food, there are some restaurants (I found 3 restaurants and 1 kids-cafe) and a small food-court inside the park.

To go to this lawn, just enter the park from the Visitor Center, walk straight and turn left. Walk straight again until you find this green grass area behind the big and tall trees.

Right now, I’m still searching for another good place to have picnic next time…………….but this will wait until the June school holiday is over because we are going for a holiday for the whole month…………………..

These are our pictures having fun at the park:

Happy face as there is lots of space to run free

Catch the Frisbee…………..!

Fresh air makes me happy……………….although it was still very hot when we arrived around 3 pm. The good thing was, we were still able to choose the best spot for our picnic since there were not many people around

This is called Frisball………………a game created by lil boy. One player throw the ball, and the other player throw the Frisbee.

Don’t expect to find this free space at around 5 pm on weekends. This place was fulled with people around that time that made us very difficult to move and play freely. Usually the Frisbee or the ball would hit someone (that happened a lot…………..but hey, it was a nice day so everybody was very forgetful when the small incidents happened)

Time to eat…………….pizza!

Everybody was so hungry even though we just had lunch at home and the lil boy also already snacking hash brown, chicken karaage, and potato chips. He ate lots of slices of pizza that day, and still asked for dinner after that.

We also brought bubbles…………………..

In front of the pond behind Shaw Amphitheater. This was very quiet when we finally reached the pond, and not many people realized there is a quiet, beautiful, and relaxing place like this just across the green grass

Fish Pond

Feeding fish and turtles. We saw a baby turtle and many big turtles in the pond

A group of people were performing on Saturday at 6 pm in Shaw Amphitheater .

Next time, when we come back, daddy said he will bring our biggest mat so he can sleep, hahaha………………..

I will also add our small pillow, some books, and extra food…………..and we probably will spend longer time in here.

Hi there. I'm from Indonesia but now live quite far away from my home country. I love cooking for my family. I learned how to cook for the first time from my mom and I believe that mom's cooking is always the best, and I do hope that my son will feel the same too even though he grows up so fast. I love Indonesian food as I grew up with it, and I promise to myself that my son, although he doesn't live in Indonesia right now, will always like and enjoy authentic Indonesian food. I make this blog so that my family will always remember our togetherness and happy time that we had, are having, and will have when we eat together and have good memories about a mother's love through her dishes. Hopefully these recipes will help other people to make healthy home cooked dishes for their families.
