Bandung Getaway June 2013: Rumah Strawberry

This beautiful place is located very far from Bandung City or Lembang. It took more than 1 hour (from Terminal Ledeng) for us to finally find this place. We had to stop and ask for directions to many people. Amazingly, everyone that we met knew exactly where this “far far away land” is. The location itself is very near to The Peak, the famous restaurant in that area. For clearer information, you can stop by at The Peak and ask for direction to the security guards.

Since it was not a holiday, this place was rather empty when we came. We were here to pick fresh strawberries, and lil boy was so excited imagining himself picking up fresh strawberries in the strawberry field. To our disappointment, the field was closed that day! What a waste of time on the street.

Lil boy was having bad mood because it took very long time to finally get here, and he was so bored in the car……

We decided to have lunch first because we were all very starving. Rumah Strawberry is a restaurant with strawberry field, children playground, grass field, and it also has some villas that people can rent. But the location is really far away and in the middle of nowhere. The surrounding area is also very quiet.

We ordered the famous nasi liwet package for 4 people which costed Rp 120.000,- Not expensive in our opinion. It was great. The portion was also big. Five of us had to struggle hard to finish everything. We also ordered zuppa soup (Rp 22.000,-) for lil boy, but it was terrible. Lil boy finally didn’t want to touch the soup at all. Fortunately, he liked all the other food that was served, especially the tempe mendoan and the chicken.

Pepes peda was absolutely the girls’ favorite (my mom, my sister, and me). The rice was delicious

Cold water with fresh smell of strawberry soap, very refreshing……

Eating-Rumah Strawberry

Eating time…… Most of the sitting area in the restaurant are made from bamboo. There were also some gazebos on the other side of the restaurant. My sister ordered fresh strawberry juice which costed Rp 22.000,-

The food really gave the lil boy extra energy to explore and play. First, we paid Rp 20.000,- to play in the children playground.

Playing alone was absolutely not fun…….he played here for a little time only

The many happy faces on the seesaw

There was a grass field near the restaurant. You can play ball or just running around like this:

I wish this was my backyard……

Before we  went home, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to take pictures of the beautiful view around this area. This place is well maintained with fresh flowers, green grass, mountain view, wonderful plants and trees, and other traditional decorations which really pamper our eyes.

The villas and the strawberry farm

My sister took the flowers photos on the two picture collages above. Being a big fan of flowers, she really likes this place.

Hi there. I'm from Indonesia but now live quite far away from my home country. I love cooking for my family. I learned how to cook for the first time from my mom and I believe that mom's cooking is always the best, and I do hope that my son will feel the same too even though he grows up so fast. I love Indonesian food as I grew up with it, and I promise to myself that my son, although he doesn't live in Indonesia right now, will always like and enjoy authentic Indonesian food. I make this blog so that my family will always remember our togetherness and happy time that we had, are having, and will have when we eat together and have good memories about a mother's love through her dishes. Hopefully these recipes will help other people to make healthy home cooked dishes for their families.
