Bandung Gateway June 2013: Not In The City

In our vacation to Bandung last June, we barely enter the city. We were traveled around Lembang, Maribaya, and Parongpong area for the whole 3 days. Spending most of our times in the mountain and village area was very refreshing, yet stressful……for the driver. Some of the roads were quite difficult to tackle and needed good driving skills. That was why most of the time my father acted as the driver when we traveled around the mountain and village area.

The roads were usually two sides roads and very narrow. Some of them were not smooth at all and had some potholes. We passed by another cars from other direction, motorcycles, farm animals, and people (and usually children) walked and played very near to the roads. The hilly roads could sometimes be very steep and dangerous especially when we had to turn left or right and face another car from different direction. Not to mention when it was raining heavily…..steep and slippery roads were inf front of us, sometimes without any proper roadblocks on the left or right side.

It was hard to see when it was raining

But fortunately, some of the roads were nice and smooth although they were still very steep.

Despite all that condition, we still loved the journey so much because of the wonderful view that we’d seen during the trip. The mountain, trees, houses, farm, rice fields, and the village life were incredibly beautiful to see. God’s creation was so marvelous that we (except lil kiddo because he was bored sitting on the car for a very long time) enjoyed the long trip and every single view that we saw. Lil boy had fun playing “who see the mountain first and how many mountains do you see” at first but get bored after that. His best interest was playground and horse riding only.

During the trip, we stopped at Tahu Lembang and bought 3 packs of hot and soft and and delicious fried tofu. Even lil boy liked it so much.

We also found this big oranges farm in Lembang and stopped by to buy some oranges. Too bad they were not sweet so we didn’t buy anything.

Last stop before going home: Rumah Sosis Lembang for another horse riding. Lil boy wanted to ride the horse for the last time before going home. Since horse riding in Singapore is so expensive, I quickly agreed to let him had another horse riding. This time for Rp 15.000,- for 1 trip.

The horse stopped by for few minutes to chew plants along the journey. This was so hilarious to him that he kept telling the story to everyone in the family again and again

Hi there. I'm from Indonesia but now live quite far away from my home country. I love cooking for my family. I learned how to cook for the first time from my mom and I believe that mom's cooking is always the best, and I do hope that my son will feel the same too even though he grows up so fast. I love Indonesian food as I grew up with it, and I promise to myself that my son, although he doesn't live in Indonesia right now, will always like and enjoy authentic Indonesian food. I make this blog so that my family will always remember our togetherness and happy time that we had, are having, and will have when we eat together and have good memories about a mother's love through her dishes. Hopefully these recipes will help other people to make healthy home cooked dishes for their families.
