Mongolian Beef

This is another alternative to cook the beef. It tastes very good and also easy to make. Serve with hot steam rice and stir fry vegetables.   I served this with vegetables and steam rice for lunch and dinner, and I was very glad when my lil boy finished his food very fast. Daddy, as usual, only finished the beef and not the vegetables at first………..but I asked him to also finish all the vegetables. It’s easier to feed lil boy with vegetables as he always eats everything that I serve on the table (positive outcome of Health and Physical Education lesson at school……………..).


  • 200 gr thinly sliced beef
  • cooking oil
  • scallions
  • 1 thumb of ginger, bruised
  • 1/2 large onion, grated
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced

Marinade Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Chinese rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp corn starch

Cooking Sauce:

  • 2 tsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar


  1. Marinade the beef with the sauce for at least 30 minutes
  2. Heat up a wok with cooking oil, stir fry the ginger first until fragrant
  3. Add large onion and garlic, stir fry until fragrant
  4. Add beef (beef only, without the left over marinade sauce), stir fry until half done
  5. Add the sauce
  6. Add water to cook the beef until tender
  7. Add scallion, turn off the heat
